Payouts & Stripe Connect Finance Guide: How You Get Paid

Learn how to connect and set up your Stripe account, understand the 21-day payout maturity period, and see how VAT affects Net and Gross payout balances.

Last updated: June 3, 2026

To ensure secure, rapid, and compliant payouts, our platform routes all partner earnings through Stripe Connect. You do not need to share sensitive banking credentials, IBANs, or corporate ID documents directly with our portal. Instead, you link your business to a Stripe Connect Express account, which manages your payouts, remittance schedules, and identity validation in a secure, encrypted environment.

Getting set up to receive payments is a quick, one-time onboarding step:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Onboarding in your portal and click Link Stripe Account.
  2. You will be securely redirected to Stripe's onboarding portal. Fill out your corporate details, business registration number, and VAT ID.
  3. Stripe Connect will ask for your preferred bank account or IBAN. This data is stored exclusively in Stripe's vaults; it is never visible to our database or administrators.
  4. Once completed, you will be redirected back to the portal where your payout status will show as Linked.

Your payouts are calculated differently depending on whether the sale is cross-border or domestic:

  • Cross-Border Sales (Net Basis β€” Deemed Supplier / Platform Model): Under the EU Deemed Supplier rules, the marketplace is responsible for collecting and remitting VAT. Therefore, your payout is issued on a Net Basis (Product Price + Shipping, minus our platform service fee). No VAT is paid to you because you do not have to remit it.
  • Domestic Sales (Gross Basis β€” Disclosed Agent / Direct Model): For domestic sales (e.g. shipping from a German warehouse to a German customer), you remain the seller of record under the Disclosed Agent model. Therefore, your payout is issued on a Gross Basis (Product Price + Shipping + VAT, minus our platform service fee). You are responsible for declaring and paying this VAT to your local tax office.

Every financial line item is subject to a 21-day lock to ensure stability:

  • Start Date: The 21-day timer begins the exact second a shipping tracking number is registered on our webhooks (when you fulfill the order).
  • Tracking & Recalculation: If you change the origin warehouse of the fulfillment, the portal recalculates the VAT rules and net/gross amounts immediately, modifying the pending ledger entry.
  • Payout Release: Once 21 days pass, the payout state shifts to matured and is swept into your bank account on your next payout cycle.

All payout data is governed by PCI-DSS Level 1 security standards. Workspace data is strictly isolated using row-level security (RLS) policies, preventing any partner from ever viewing your company's transaction history, commission lines, or banking setups.

The Earnings Lifecycle

Your payouts flow through a automated three-step ledger process:

  • Fulfillment Ledger Entry: The moment you mark an order as shipped/fulfilled inside your own store admin, our system creates a payout record under your Finances tab. This maps the gross value, platform commission fees, and VAT.
  • Maturity Period (21 Days): To account for shipping timelines, customer returns, or delivery claims, funds are locked under a standard 21-day maturity counter from the exact day of shipment.
  • Remittance to Bank Account: Once the maturity counter reaches zero, the funds are automatically released to your Stripe Connect balance. Stripe then processes a direct payout (deposit) to your linked bank account on a daily or weekly basis.

Stripe Express Dashboard: You can view real-time pending balances, matured funds, and historical payout records directly in your Finances overview. To update your bank account, view detailed transfer logs, or download tax documentation, click the "View Stripe Dashboard" button to securely log in to Stripe Express.
